This is the basic method that will lead to creating smudge proof mascara. The techniques are easy and if you follow them you’ll have a natural, flawless and clump-free look.

    • Use an eyeshadow base or a dab of foundation on your eyelids and below your lashes first. Useconcealer under your eyes if you need to.
    • Lightly powder your upper cheek area with a translucent powder.
    • Curl your eyelashes by placing the eyelash curler close to your lashes and press it one time.
    • Remove the wand from the applicator WITHOUT pumping it and use a tissue to swipe the clump off the tip before applying.
  • Take the wand, place it at the base of your upper lashes and WIGGLE it while you move it upward.

Fluttery Eyelash Tips

Simple Tip
Use a clean mascara applicator wand like the model in the above photo is using and brush your lashes to separate. Do this between each coat. It works great!

Finish off the look by applying a second coat of mascara and brushing again. If you are creating asmokey eye look then the last coat can be left as is if you prefer lashes that have a little sheen to them.

Now for the bottom lashes…Take a folded tissue and place it under your bottom lashes at the base. Swipe your mascara wand with a tissue to remove excess product. Using just the tip of the wand, lightly coat your lashes. Remove the tissue and just brush any specks from under your eyes or cheeks.

As you can see smudge proof mascara application is possible. If you are doing a natural look then this technique will help you achieve it. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll find that your mascara goes on in no time at all.
