Fix An Uneven Tan Quickly
Sometimes you need a self tan remover and you need it quick. Stuff happens. Maybe you applied your tanning product and then went to sleep and you find yourself with a very blotchy bronze skin color. Perhaps the palms of your hands still had some of the lotion or spray on them and they look a little odd. Or, did you just get it a little too dark? Don’t worry there are some home remedies andmakeup tips that work to lighten skin quickly.
How To Fix An Uneven Tan
The very first thing you need to do before you use a self tan remover, whether purchased or homemade is to determine if you really need one. There are two ways to cover up an uneven tan quickly. Sometimes the easiest solution is to apply a second layer of a fake tan spray to areas that are lighter and even out the color.
If the problem is splotchiness on your face or shoulders and you don’t want to apply a second layer there is a temporary fix. You can usebronzers and just apply it a little heavier on any area that was too light. For instance, if you slept on your side and that area is a little lighter, you would use more bronzer there.
Some women have found that airbrush makeup works for giving an area more coverage and making it blend into the adjacent area which is lighter.
Homemade Self Tan Remover
Let’s say you’ve determined that you’re going to need more than a few makeup tricks to correct your uneven tanning. There’s simple way to remove color. Use a face toner. Most of these contain either alcohol or witch hazel. Just put a little on a cotton pad and lightly wipe the area that has to much tanning solution on it or is streaky. This works smoothing out the discoloration lines on your face.
You can even make your own toner by mixing witch hazel and water half and half. Put a little in a bowl or bottle and use the cotton swab. Remember this is only for small areas like your face, neck and shoulders. There is another method for serious discoloration.
Self Tanner On Palms
One of the most common problems with using any self tanner including spray on tan products is getting it on the palms of your hands. There’s a super easy way to solve this. It’s the one I use and recommend to readers of Makeup Notebook:
Try microdermabrasion crystals.Scoop out a little dab of Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion treatment crystals into the palm of your hands and just wash them right after you finish applying your tan. Your palms with be lighter instantly.
Body Self Tan Remover Methods
Sometimes you just go overboard with trying to get a deeper color or you wind up with streaking that needs a major overhaul. The easiest way to lighten up immediately is to take a bath. Soaking in water makes “lifts” the dry outer layer of your skin where the main color deposit has taken place. If the problem is all over or you’ve really messed up your legs, this usually works well enough to solve it.
Once you’ve finished bathing, stand up and use a simple homemade sugar scrub for exfoliating and then shower off. Dry your skin and apply a body butter to pamper your skin.
If the problem is on your face you can use a home microdermabrasion treatment product. You probably have one in your beauty stash anyway. If you don’t the next time you go on a makeup haul pick up one. There are very affordable and you’ll be surprised how well they work.
The next time you need a self tan remover and you need it quick, look to your makeup products and your bathing supplies. You can lighten up or cover up within about 10 minutes. Don’t panic, your tan will fade naturally in a couple of days and you’ll be your old self again.
