Red Lipstick – The Power Color
"Yes, You can wear this hot color!"
Red lipstick is a controversial color. Women either love it or hate it. Either way there is one thing most can agree on – It’s a powerful color. There’s much ado about women who wear it and if you’ve never tried it then you’re in for a wonderful surprise. There really is a shade for everyone.
How To Select Your Shade
When you’re trying on red lipstick the one thing to keep in mind is that this color, more than any other, has a tendency to overpower. It’s why we both love it and hate it at the same time. There are three things you need to know: Which shade to select. The right consistency for you. How to apply it perfectly.
"Plump red lips are a striking statement!"
Brunettes: If you have darker skin then most deep lipstick shades probably look good on you. The only choice you really have to make is whether to go light or dark red. You can change your selection of color with the seasons. Try a lighter shade that’s almost coral for the summer and a deeper cherry one for winter. Even bright scarlet reds look superb on deep skin tones. It's perfect for you!Blondes: Those with pale skin often have difficulty with red lipstick. They feel that the color overpowers them and looks out of place. There’s an easy solution to this. Use a clear lipstick first and the place a layer of red over it. Blondes who can’t wear red, find that this method is perfect. You can also wear dark coral lipstick with red lipliner. It will give the effect of red while enhancing your skin tone. Redheads: You may have been misled! Of course you can wear red lipstick if you have red hair. The difference is in the shade you select. If red hasn’t worked for you in the past then try choosing a shade with a little more brown in it. You may find that a color which is more of a rust red will become your favorite shade.
Putting On Lipstick That Lasts
Are you going out for the evening? You want your lipstick to last and look perfect all night. Make sure to apply either a lipstick base or use an oil-free foundation over your lips. Line your lips with a red lip pencil and fill in slightly with your pencil. Then take your lipstick and apply it with a lip brush. Blot your lips with a tissue and apply a second coat.
