Simple Tip
Take about a half teaspoon of sugar and just add it to your favorite creamy facial cleanser. Simply use your fingers in a circular motion and lightly exfoliate your face with it. Then rinse your face.

Exfoliating With Sugar

It's possible to do the same thing with a sugar scrub for your body. Sugar scrubs for the body are great to use before applying self-tanning products because they smooth your skin and moisturize it.

The self-tanner products are less likely to soak into dry areas and it's easier to apply them evenly. You also might consider exfoliating before applying gel bronzers, too.

Sugar Scrub Ingredients

Homemade sugar scrubs usually contain about a cup of sugar to which about one half cup of some type of oil is added. The sugar choices and oils are up to you. A few of the favorites are jojoba oil, almond oil and olive oil. Essential oils like orange, vanilla, or grapefruit can be added for fragrance. You can even put in some vitamin E. The main thing to remember is not to get too hung up on exact amounts. Part of the fun with sugar scrubs is experimenting!

Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe

  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Jojoba Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Orange Oil
  • Several Capsules Vitamin E

    • Mix sugar and oil together in a glass bowl. Pour in jojoba oil until you reach the desired consistency. Add the orange oil and the vitamin E capsules. Stir and spoon into a glass container.
