Precision Eyeliner Tips
Getting that precision line is easier than you think. Some makeup artists have very steady hands and just seem to get it right every time. Others don’t and when they don’t they know they can use these two makeup artist tricks for great results. Try one or two of these and see for yourself what a difference it makes. I’ll start with the easiest to solve first and then we’ll get to the more difficult problems. First make sure you read:
Eyeliner Tips For A Clean Line:
Okay, you’ve got your eyeshadow or maybe you're even using homemade makeup and you’ve learned the insider secret for turning it into and amazing color of eyeliner. The only problem is that you just can’t seem to get the placement to look professional. What’s the solution? Tape. That’s right. Just use the clear tape like you wrap gifts with.- Take a piece of clear tape about two inches long.
- Lightly place it just under your eye on an upward angle like you see in the photo above.
- Make sure it goes just under the end of your eyebrow.
- Apply your eyeliner product.
- Gently peel off the tape.
The piece of tape helps prevent you from getting scraggly line. You can even modify the tape for a more curved line by simply cutting it with your scissors. Simple technique for a great result. If you like this one then you might even prefer to cut a triangle shape from a piece of faux suede cloth and use it instead. It’s one of my favorite methods and it’s gentle on the delicate eye area.
Are you having difficulty seeing the placement? The solution might be a pair of makeup glasses.

Makeup Brush Eyeliner Tips
If you can’t get your product to work for you then chances are that you might need to find a better brush. If you like the formulation of you eyeliner makeup but still can’t seem to get the line right then it’s time to investigate switching brushes. Why dump a perfect product because of the brush? Take a look through your makeup bags and then solve it the way the pros do. They choose the brush that works for them most of the time. It might be one of the following three:
1. A tiny eye makeup or concealer brush that works with other makeup.2. A professional artist’s brush they purchase from a craft store. (Yes, they do that.)
3. They make a brush work for them by altering it.
Let’s talk about these eyeliner tips. On the first one you know that the brushes that come with your eyeliner are tiny. Some are high end and some aren’t. Some are actually a little thicker. If you want a fine line that thicker brush just isn’t going to work. You need a brush that will keep it’s tip. That’s why some women actually prefer sharpened eyeliner pencils. There’s nothing written that says you have to have a specific brush. Use the one that works for you. If it’s a tiny concealer brush, and it works, use it. Simply wash your brush beforehand. Okay, you probably know this one already. Just in case you don’t makeup artists love their brushes. Sometimes they buy them from makeup supply stores and sometimes they order them from online stores for artist supplies. There’s no reason you can’t do the same. The main thing is to test the brush. You don’t want one with stiff bristles. It’s simply an alternative.
So your brush still isn’t working. It happens to everyone. Sometimes you need it to be just a little shorter. Maybe you need the tip to be a little thinner. This is what I term the ‘last ditch method.’ It’s what you try before you decide to toss the brush. Try trimming it. It’s simple to do and you might just find it becomes your favorite.
Make Your Own Makeup Brushes
These simple eyeliner tips work really well and they allow you to take your skills to the next level. Maybe you’ll decide to do a fantasy makeup design next.
