When word finally got out about the purported vasorestrictive properties of coffee, cosmetic chemists began experimenting with adding coffee to beauty products. Was it true that coffee used in soaps could help women shed pounds and cellulite? Did it really give a lift when used in lip balm? Could washing with a simple coffee soap give you an energy lift?
Exfoliate With Coffee Skincare
The word is still out on how effective coffee scrubs are in actually giving you an energy lift. Some people say they definitely do; others say “No way.” One thing is for sure – coffee body polish IS an excellent exfoliator for your skin. It has soothing properties and when combined with oils or soaps it does make a luxurious product to use in your own home spa.

This recipe is easy. You just use white glycerin soap bars that you can buy at the hobby store. Melting the glycerin can be done on the stove – But why not try the microwave? It’s quicker, easier and works just as well.
Creamy Coffee Soap Recipe
- 1 bar white glycerin soap (4 ounces)
- 1 teaspoon instant espresso OR 2 teaspoons coffee beans
- 1 teaspoon powdered milk
- A few drops of fragrance oil. Try vanilla or coffee.
- Cut the bar of white glycerin soap into chunks and place in a large glass measuring cup or glass microwave safe container. Melt for a few seconds at a time until completely melted. Take out of the microwave and add the powdered milk. Stir. Add the coffee granules but only stir slightly. Add the fragrance oil if you desire. Then just pour the soap into a mold and let it set for several hours until it hardens.
