How To Select Your Best Makeup Foundation
You already know that the best makeup foundation is the one that matches your skin...But what do you do if you can't find a perfect match? You find the best match and "tweak" it. Here's how...
Remember this: Match in NATURAL OUTDOOR LIGHT. Take your makeup samples and either stand outside with a handheld mirror, or get near a home window with good natural light coming through. If you're shopping then take a little makeup mirror with you in your purse.
Easy Way To Match Foundation
One: Take 3 colors in your color range and swipe on your cheek. Ask yourself this question: "Which swipe is the closest to my skin tone?"Two: Swipe the same colors on your neck! Your best makeup foundation needs to closely match the color of your neck if you want it to look natural. Three: Which color closely matches your face and neck? Choose either the closest one OR the darker one that matches your neck. It will be the one that you can customize into your best makeup foundation.
"Matching foundation is an absolute must!"

Now, Customize Your Foundation!
If you want to go darker: Take the foundation that is the best match for you and get a second foundation that is 2 shades darker. Pour a little of your foundation out onto a small plate or mirror. Use two or three small drops of the darker foundation and mix them together with a spatula. You can get one cheap at the local hobby or art store. Now, try a little swipe of this on your face and neck. The trick here is to find out how much you need to add to your foundation. Mix some into an empty container for easy everyday use.| Simple TipIf you don't like mixing your foundation, then consider that you can slightly darken your skin by using tanning towlettes and then just match to a darker foundation in the same skin tone range. |

If you want to go lighter: You can choose the lightest foundation in the range and add a few drops to your main color. If you want to go sheerer: You can make your foundation sheerer by simply adding a drop or two of your favorite moisturizer. If you want to mimic a tan: Take the darker color in your range of foundation, 2 or 3 shades darker than your skin tone, and mix with your moisturizer. Apply to the places that the sun would tan on your face. This would be your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin.
